1. Different cargo loading

General cargo ship generally loaded packaging, bags, boxes and barrels, mainly carrying bags, boxes, bundles of miscellaneous goods, cargo ships are specialized in water transport of various cargo tasks of the ship, there are dry cargo ships and liquid cargo ships, general cargo ship is a dry cargo ship.

Bulk carriers are short for bulk carriers, which are specially used to transport unbandaged goods, such as coal, ore, wood, livestock, grain, etc. Bulk transport of grain, coal, ore, salt, cement and other bulk dry cargo ships, can be called dry bulk carriers, or referred to as bulk carriers.

2. Different structure

General cargo ships are generally double-deck ships, with 4 to 6 cargo holds, and cargo hatches on the deck of each cargo hold, and cargo rods that can lift 5 to 20 tons are installed on both sides of the cargo hold.

Because dry bulk carriers are single-deck vessels. If the total deadweight is more than 50,000 tons, the cargo lifting equipment is generally not installed. Because the stowage factors (volume per ton of cargo) of grain, coal and mineral sands vary greatly, the size of the required hold volume, the structure of the hull, the arrangement and the equipment vary in many aspects.

3. Different characteristics

General cargo ship has small tonnage and flexibility; Can bring their own lifting equipment; Hatch large space in the hatch; Low construction and operating costs.

The cargo of bulk carriers is single, do not need to be packed into bundles, bags, boxes of loading and transportation, not afraid of extrusion, easy to load and unload.
